JOURNEY, one of the greatest rock bands of all time, has announced that their wildly popular tour will continue with the 50th-anniversary celebration “Freedom Tour 2023,” featuring TOTO as an exceptional guest.
JOURNEY, diamond-selling Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, will perform live in 38 North American locations with a set list that includes several international songs, such as “Lights,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It.” and “Faithfully.”
JOURNEY’s “Freedom Tour 2023,” which is put on by AEG Presents, kicks off on February 4 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and stops in Austin, Montreal, Memphis, and other cities before coming to an end on April 25 at Palm Springs, California’s brand-new Acrisure Arena. In addition, dates in Washington, D.C., Hartford, Toronto, and Quebec that were postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19 are included in the 2023 run.
Neal Schon, the band’s lead guitarist, is joined by Jonathan Cain on keyboards and supporting vocals, Arnel Pineda on lead vocals, Jason Derlatka on keyboards and vocals, Deen Castronovo on drums, and Todd Jensen on drums (bass).
Schon says: “We have added a new series of dates for 2023 since we are all so grateful and moved by the success of our JOURNEY’s “Freedom Tour 2022″ this year. With our excellent friends TOTO, we are eager to travel once more. So join us for a special evening filled with entertainment and memorable rock music. Until then, buddies.”
We were added by Cain, “Excited to perform for our fans on our TOTO tour the following year. The combined hits of both bands reflect several decades of outstanding music that have become a part of people’s soundtracks. A couple of examples of “particular music” for “certain moments” include the music of JOURNEY and TOTO.”
TOTO, an exceptional guest who has joined JOURNEY on all performances, will perform songs from their catalog that have together received more than 3.3 billion Spotify listens, including “Rosanna,” “Africa,” and “Hold The Line.”
Steve Lukather of TOTO says: “On behalf of the band and myself, I’d want to express our excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to join JOURNEY on this tour. It’s going to be a fantastic musical evening, and because the guys are all lifetime friends, it’ll be fun off-stage as well.”
Previously, JOURNEY and TOTO collaborated on a spring 2022 U.S. arena tour. In addition, JOURNEY is still promoting its most recent record, “Freedom,” which was made available by BMG in July. On the Billboard Current Rock chart, the album debuted at No. 1.
The members of JOURNEY launched a residency in the brand-new, cutting-edge Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas to commemorate the album’s release, which featured exclusive symphonic orchestra concerts.
“Freedom” is JOURNEY’s first album of brand-new music in eleven years since 2011’s “Eclipse.” In addition to Schon, longtime keyboardist and primary lyricist Cain, and Pineda, one more member was recruited for the LP — bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson, who had previously played on JOURNEY’s 1986 album “Raised On Radio.”
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted JOURNEY in 2017 and had 25 gold and platinum albums. The band has sold more than 100 million albums worldwide, earning them two Diamond Awards, with a third one coming soon for the album “Frontiers.” On Spotify, JOURNEY has received more than one billion streams.
