Derrike Cope’s StarCom Racing made a big move today securing a charter from RCR Racing. StarCom leased the old No. 27 charter from RCR in 2018. Today, they announced the complete acquisition.
🚨We are excited to announce that StarCom Racing acquired a Charter from @RCRracing ensuring SCR’s longevity in NASCAR. With our Charter purchase, we are pleased to share that we have teamed up with @landoncassill as the 00 SCR driver for the 2019 season!🚨 pic.twitter.com/Sm5FmuIBny

In addition, StarCom confirmed that Landon Cassill would return to the No. 00 entry. Cassill took over at the beginning of the year after Jeffrey Earnhardt was released. Cassill recorded a season-best 18th place finish at Las Vegas in September.
No news was offered on the status of the No. 99 entry, which saw Kyle Weatherman, Joey Gase and Cassill make attempts last season.Â
Cassill broke a rear gear in his first start with StarCom, but delivered a 21st at Texas and a 20th at Bristol over the next two weeks. It was an immediate upgrade from the results that Jeffrey Earnhardt brought to start the season. With a respected driver now firmly secured, along with the purchase of a charter, Cope can hopefully continue to take steps forward with his team.Â
