Ryan Blaney captures pole in Phoenix

Ryan Blaney was fast on Friday morning in Phoenix — he backed that speed up once again on Friday evening during qualifying. Blaney put his No. 12 Ford Mustang on the pole (25.48 seconds) for Sunday’s Ticket Guardian 500 at ISM Raceway.

Blaney didn’t just put it on the pole, he secured the top spot by two tenths of a second. It was a dominant performance from the Penske driver on Friday afternoon.

Chase Elliott will join Blaney on the front row with a time of 25.68 seconds.

Early favorites Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick will start 4th and 8th, respectively.

The story of the day ended up being Daniel Suarez and Michael McDowell, however. Two of the nicer guys you’ll see in the garage had a bit of a disagreement during their qualifying run. Both drivers missed the second round of qualifying.
