NASCAR roars into the Bluegrass State this weekend, set for another triple-header of action at Kentucky Speedway. The Gander Outdoor Truck Series will kick things off on Thursday night, following by the Xfinity Series on Friday night, then the Monster Energy Cup Series on Saturday night.
Saturday night’s race will mark the first visit for the new 550 horsepower package in the Cup Series. In an attempt to make the racing groove wider, NASCAR announced on Tuesday that they will add a traction compound to the middle and higher grooves of the track, looking to create a multi-groove track.
The package has produced outstanding racing under the lights so far this season, but the narrow racing groove at Kentucky may prove to be a challenge for drivers as they attempt to make passes.
Both the Xfinity Series and Gander Outdoor Truck Series will also utilize the traction compound this weekend.
