Crash in Clash Practice: Logano Fastest

Well, it certainly did not take long to get the first crash of the 2019 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series. In the first practice for the Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona, Chase Elliott seemed to drift up and crowd Ryan Newman causing a wreck involving 2 other drivers. Here is the video of the wreck so you can decide for yourself who is to blame.

Neither Harvick nor Newman will go to back up car as they sustained minimal damage. Meanwhile, Elliott and Hamlin have unloaded their second cars and are readying them for tomorrow afternoon’s Clash.

Apart from the crash, the main story line was the blue ovals. Ford drivers looked to be among the strongest in the field. Joey Logano, driver of the #22 Pennzoil Ford Mustang set the fastest time in the practice with a 45.735. Comprising four of the top 9 spots, Ford looks to get their new Mustang into victory lane at the first opportunity. Rounding out the top five were Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott, & Kevin Harvick.

Shortly after practice resumed from the red flag for the first wreck, Daniel Suarez went for a spin trying to get on pit road. He avoided making any contact and suffered no damage. Here is a look from onboard Suarez’s car.
