Another team has entered the Daytona 500 picture with a familiar name. Casey Mears will attempt to qualify for NASCAR’s biggest race, running a No. 27 entry fielded by Bob Germain. The car will come from Premium Motorsports, essentially acting at the No. 55 entry for the weekend.

Mears hasn’t attempted a Cup race since 2016. Before that, Mears ran the full schedule from 2003-2016. He made 14 starts in the Xfinity Series in 2017, posting two top ten finishes.
Ross Chastain will be the team car to Mears, returning to the No. 15 entry this season.
