It’s a new era for JD Motorsports in 2019. When you think JD Motorsports, you think of Ross Chastain. That won’t be the case anymore. Chastain is set to move on to Ganassi in 2019 after a fantastic showing in the No. 42 machine.
Most in the industry weren’t surprised by Chastain’s success. It was an old school success story — one that Johnny Davis is looking to recreate.
In steps Blake Koch. The 33 year old driver sat out the 2018 season after making back to back playoff appearances with Kaulig Racing in 2016 and 2017. Koch will now step into the No. 4 for JD Motorsports.
“It’s hard for me to explain how excited I am to race again and to do it for JD Motorsports. I have seen the progress of this team and have raced against them for many years. Coming off their best season with Ross making the playoffs, it’s a perfect time to join them,” Koch said in a release.
Koch will bring his own company, FilterTime, over as a primary sponsor for select races.
