Watch: Tanner Gray takes a wild ride during ARCA East race at New Smyrna

Sam Mayer took home the checkered flag in the ARCA East Series race at New Smyrna, but the headlining moment of the race was a wild crash that involved Tanner Gray. After Max McLaughlin pushed up into Mason Diaz, the two cars move up into Gray — who walked up the frontstretch wall.

Watch the wreck below.

Gray climbed out of the car and walked away under his own power. McLaughlin was able to continue with minor damage. A lengthy repair to the catchfence delayed the race for a good half hour.

Sam Mayer was able to hold off Derek Griffith for the win after Griffith dominated the race. The Chad Bryant Racing Ford was hooked up tonight, but fell victim to tire strategy.

It was Mayer’s first win of the season in the ARCA East division — a championship he’s looking to defend in 2020.
